Staycation Glam | PK Gal Blog | Pink Karma

You are stuck at home for spring break and the pools aren’t open yet and the beaches are too cold to visit…at least that’s the case here in Washington, D.C. Not to mention there is potential for a FOURTH nor’easter to hit (insert O.M.G. emoji face here). Make it stoooooop! If you’re unable to escape the chilling air this spring, it sounds like you’re on a staycation my friend. Lucky for you, PK Gal is the queen of making anything seem more glamorous than it sounds. I give you my most fantastical ideas to making your staycation more exciting than, well, anything really.

My sister and I have quite the imagination, so a staycation is right up our ally! One of the most fun things we used to do growing up was create our own movie theater experience at home. We made movie tickets, popcorn, poured our soda’s and grabbed any candy we had on hand at the time. We would lay out a red blanket at the entrance of the family room that mimicked a red carpet entrance. The lights would be dimmed in the family room and as the viewers (my sister and our friends) walked the red carpet, they would hand their ticket to the usher (most of the time that was me) and enter the “movie theater.” Before taking their seats, viewers would be directed to the popcorn, soda and candy station. Once everyone was situated, including the usher, the lights would go down and the movie would begin! It was such a fun way to spend our afternoons on a cold or rainy day and it created some of the most unforgettable childhood memories for me.

Let your imagination fly and take the movie theater experience up a notch by pretending this is a movie premiere! Get dressed up and let the wanderlust in your eye show by wearing the Wanderlust Tassel Necklace paired with our Wanderlust 2-inch Brown Leather Cuff. It will transport you (mentally) to sunny Hollywood in a flash.

Other simpler ways to spend your staycation are to visit a local museum, catch the improv comedy show that your local theater puts on, or find a new workout class to join. FYI, CorePower Yoga offers you a full week of free classes before committing to a membership. I’m trying it out next week! Care to join me? Check it out here.)

Vacations are usually to relax and to enjoy your time spent alone and with others. Take some time to go shopping, have a spa day, take a bubble bath with candles to set the relaxing mood, or read a book. After your alone time has been spent, finally, put that cook book to good use and host a get together with some friends and family. Pull out the board games or just chill and watch a movie.

However you plan to spend your staycation, may it be yours, may it be happy, and may it be in a sunny state of
